Darn Field Trip Lunches– and a Cow Wow Cereal Milk Giveaway

Oops,  I did it again.  Forgot that the field trip required a bag lunch.   This time it was for Children’s Choir but sometimes it’s a school trip  And yes, I can hear Britney Spears singing in the background.  Bad (lunch) karma will get you an earworm.

This time I sent my husband on a quick run to pick up a sub–and I have no idea what he did about a beverage, since we don’t stock soda or bottled water.

But I am sooo prepared now.  We just received samples of a product called Cow Wow Cereal Milk (disclaimer: provided free for purposes of this review).  Cow Wow is organic, naturally flavored 1% milk in shelf stable (9+ months) 8.5 oz packages.   Once I stock these, I can forget she needs a lunch and she’ll even get her calcium–organically!

Cow Wow cereal milk was developed to taste like the milk left in the bottom of the cereal bowl with its obvious kid appeal.  The first flavor we tried was Fruity Trudy which we thought was like mild fruit loop milk (albeit from my ancient memories…and where on earth did my organic daughter get Fruit Loops).     Next we tried the Chocolate Chip Cathy and the first word I heard from daughter #3 was “mine.”  With a mild chocolaty flavor it her favorite.  I liked the Cinny Minny best.  It tasted like milk with a touch of cinnamon and was good plain and excellent in coffee (and I so wanted to try making a snickerdoodle martini).   All of the flavors were mild which means they don’t taste like flavor enhancing chemicals–not surprising since the flavorings are all natural.

Grownups can appreciate Cow Wow Milk too!

I did think of one other time I routinely need this and that is for storage in our “cabin up north.”  Here my problem is milk for my early morning coffee after a late night arrival.  I try to keep UHT whipped cream in the refrigerator but the kids can empty a spray can in no time flat.  The little boxes of UHT milk may solve this problem– if I hide one somewhere safe, like my underwear drawer.

Probably soooo not in the milk’s marketing plan.

What a timely post Inger. My daughter is on a mission to make spending time at the baseball field with my grandson a bit more meal time friendly minus the fast food stops. She’s in search of “picnic like food” that she can throw in a basket and bring to the field with her. My grandson has an aversion to milk and she is having quite the time trying to get calcium in him. I have a feeling this product may be just what she needs to try. I have never heard of them and I’m sure she hasn’t either. It sounds like everyone in your family has claimed their flavor (although yours may be in a secret drawer:) I don’t usually “enter” give-aways but I must say, I sure wouldn’t mind trying these:) I may even send my non-blogging daughter over to “enter” too. She would love your blog anyway if she were a blogging kinda “gal.”

Thank you so much for sharing this reveiw with us Inger. It’s so nice to see a give-away promoting a more natural approach to eating:)

Thanks so much Louise! I saw the tweet while I was out and got so excited! Yes, that is one of my girls–we did a couple days in Chicago for spring break.

It would make my life easier because my son loves milk and this would be so easy to pack in lunches and/or take on short trips!

My son loves his chocolate milk… This is super convenient to grab and go when we need to go somewhere and he wants his milk.

My daughter is having some health issues, getting dizzy a lot. She needs to keep food, and especially beverages with her to help in those dizzy moments. She loves milk and this would be a great way for her to carry one with her.

We pack our kid’s lunches, so the one thing they are always missing is milk. Instead we pack juice boxes, which are not nearly as healthy.

  6. Birdiebee

I wouldn’t have to worry about running out to the store in the middle of the night to get milk in the lunchbox the next morning. This would be a blessing.

What a great product to have on hand. I am forever forgetting to have something on hand to pack in for the kids on fieldtrip days- this would be perfect. Thanks!

I think it would make my life easier by getting my grandson to drink milk. He is picky but the individual cute package may help.

This would make my life easier because having some shelf stable milk on hand means I’m not caught running out unexpectedly.

My kids are incredibly picky, and I have to pack a lunch everyday. Sometimes it is hard to be creative, and to find healthy things to pack. I think they would enjoy this milk, and it looks attractively packaged.
