There’s nothing quite like a hot toddy to warm you whenwinter sets in. Here is a recipe for Tomand Jerry Batter to make the classic alcoholic beverage.
Place egg whites, sugar and water in mixer bowl and whisk together. Place bowl on top of a saucepan with about an inch of water. Heat, whisking regularly to 160F. Make sure that sugar is dissolved.
Take the mixer bowl off the stove, then beat on high until mixture is thick and fluffy.
Mix egg yolks, cloves allspice cinnamon salt and vanilla in a small bowl. Fold into egg white mixture.
Transfer to a 1 quart container and store in freezer.
Make one Tom and Jerry drink:
Add ¾ ounce (1 ½ Tablespoons) each brandy and spiced rum to a mug.
Top with a heaping Tablespoon (about 3 level Tablespoons) or Tom and Jerry batter. You can use more or less to taste.
Fill the mug with boiling water and stir until mix is dissolved.
Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg (optional).
Serve immediately.
