Peach Margarita & a Glass Straw Giveaway

Is your glass (or freezer) half empty or half full? That depends on your perspective of course–and your outlook is always better with a Peach Margarita in hand!

Peach Margarita

This post is co-inspired by a freezer loaded with peaches that need to be finished off (summer is coming!) and an offer  from a company called GlassDharma ( Facebook or Twitter). They recently asked me to review a selection of their glass straws.  I couldn’t help but think about all the fun summer drinks that are served with straws (stay tuned for more!)

Using technology similar to Pyrex (ask me how much Pyrex I own), GlassDharma  creates glass straws that are both tough and beautiful.   The straws come in a variety of widths and lengths, so there is one for any type of beverage: narrow for iced coffee, wide  for smoothies, short for martini glasses, long for chocolate malts.   And the company is so confident of their strength that they offer a lifetime warranty!

According to founder David Leonhardt, “My commitment is three-fold – to create the highest quality, most durable glass straws, having the straws be elegant and stylish, and for them to serve an important purpose! As I work with other people in the sustainable living community and educate people about the negative effects of plastic and the positives of glass, I benefit by learning more about living with a greener footprint.”

Now plastic straws may not be something you’ve thought of as a polluter before.  But…  don’t they go into landfills like disposable diapers (hmm, yes)…  And aren’t they a petroleum derivative like Styrofoam (oooo, another, yes)…  And shouldn’t you be concerned that they might leach chemicals into your beverage like a plastic water bottle (I am)…   glass-straws-closeup

Now wouldn’t you just love some glass straws to green and brighten up your summer beverages?

And now for the giveaway:

This offer, for a $25 gift certificate (don’t forget to order your cleaning brush too!), is sponsored by GlassDharma and open to mailing addresses in the US. To enter, leave a comment letting me know what you would drink from your glass straws. For an additional entry, subscribe to Art of Natural Living (enter email address on sidebar) or “like” Art of Natural Living on Facebook and let me know in another comment (or tell me if you are already a subscriber). The winner will be picked randomly, notified by email and have 48 hours to get back to me with confirming information, then a gift code will then be emailed to them. The contest ends at midnight CDT, June 1, 2014.

Congrats to winner Serenity!

If I had an awesome glass straw I would drink ALL THINGS from it. From water, to smoothies, to delicious cocktails, everything would be amazing if it came out of a glass straw. This peach margarita post in particular though sounds great and I may have to try it.

I would drink my favorite summer drink “Sour Puss Genevieve” from these glass straws. …possibly also “Pink Sissy Alarm” and “Whacked Monkeys” as well….all very good drinks in the summer time. The Sour Puss is especially wonderful when made into a smoothie.

Your drink is so pretty in that glass with the glass straw. I would use this for our daily smoothies…or maybe iced tea in the summer.

I’d use these with my smoothies – I make one a few times a week (my goal is daily, but it just doesn’t seem to happen!), and I’m less than pleased with cleanliness of my reusable plastic straws, and don’t want to indulge in the wastefulness of disposable ones. this would be perfect!

I would love to use this glass straw at the end of a long week, sitting by the bon fire, while my kids are catching fireflies, sipping the perfectly chilled glass, with the glass straw that keeps my drink cold and can stir it every so often. Thanks for the chance. I liked your facebook page
