Tasty Truffle Popcorn
Rich and flavorful, yet also airy and light, Truffle Popcorn is a tasty and unique snack that’s super easy to make!

I have to blame the pandemic—or maybe to credit it. That’s because when I heard the calls to do quarantine restaurant takeout, I was totally in. Which is what led me to a tasty burger served with a delightful side of truffle fries.
Of course loving truffle fries now meant I had to add truffle oil and truffle salt to my pantry! And then find more tasty ways to use them—like Truffle Popcorn!
Excitedly, I am maybe even more over the moon about this new dish. The airiness of the popcorn balances the rich truffle butter, while the delicate flavor of the popcorn lets the truffle flavor shine through. And did I mention it’s easy?
Not I just need to decide if I want to drink wine or beer with this!

Why You’ll Love This!
Flavorful. With its rich earthy flavor, truffle oil can turn popcorn into an exciting taste sensation.
Easy. Just pop up a little popcorn (your favorite method), then top with a butter and truffle oil mixture. Easy peasy!
Unique. Popcorn is nice. Cheese corn is special. Truffle Popcorn is fun and unique!

Step by Step Overview
Pop the popcorn according to your favorite method. Pour into a large bowl so you have room to toss with the butter.
Melt the butter, then let it cool slightly if it’s gotten too hot (some say that too much heat can degrade the truffle flavor). Mix in the truffle oil.
Toss the butter and oil mixture with the popcorn.
Add salt and toss again.

Tips & FAQs
If you’re not familiar with truffles, I have a lengthy description on my Truffle Fries post.
I have found that not all popcorn pops up the same. Depending on the volume you end up with, feel free to adjust the amount of truffle oil butter you use.
You’ll find some recipes that add chopped parsley and finely grated Parmesan. I did give this a try. And while the parsley adds nice color and the cheese adds a little more umami, I personally didn’t think the extra effort was worth it.
How do I select a truffle oil? I got mine from Milwaukee mushroom hunter Diane Summers-Yelton of Mushroom Lady LLC (not a sponsored post), who hand makes it from imported European truffles. But it is readily available online. She recommended the black truffle oil as more flavorful but added that if you’re intimidated and would like a “starter” truffle oil, go with the white.

Why do you use butter? Truffle oil is strongly flavored and it is also quite expensive. When added to butter it still delivers a solid truffle flavor—and then you also get a richness bonus from the butter. Yum! But if you have ended up with a milder truffle oil, keep (or slightly reduce) the butter and just add some extra oil to taste.

I so wish Mark would eat truffles — I lveo them but he is NOT a fan. This popcorn sounds fantastic, Inger!
That is sad. We got the most amazing truffle cheese in Colmar last fall and I’m still grating it and mixing it into greens for salad. We’ll be sad when it’s gone. Actually wondering if I could find the cheese shop again since it’s better than the other truffle cheeses I’ve had. Are food bloggers obsessive or what!
Truffle flavor anything is always SO good! I cant even begin to wonder how amazing this popcorn tastes.
Oh, I ate waaaay too much, that’s how good it was!
That truffle popcorn sounds dangerously addictive, the kind of snack you make “just for a movie night” and then suddenly it becomes your whole personality. Now I’m low‑key craving a big bowl of it.
I’m not yet familiar with truffle flavor and I need to fix that. This popcorn is sure gorgeous and I’m certain it’s very tasty.
You do need to fix that! And happily it should be a fun fix!
Now this sounds like a decadent savory popcorn. Definitely have to try!
